Rozeznáváme několik druhů integrace elektronických obvodů. Jsou to:

 

  1. Malá integrace (SSI - Small Scale Integration). Čip obsahuje do 100 tranzistorů.
  2. Střední integrace (MSI - Medium Scale Integration). Čip obsahuje do 500 tranzistorů.
  3. Velká integrace (LSI - Large Scale Integration). Čip obsahuje do 100 tisíc tranzistorů.
  4. Velmi velká Integrace (VLSI - Very Large Scale Integration). Čip obsahuje stovky milionů tranzistorů. V roce 2006 se tato integrace blížila již miliardě tranzistorů.
